Our cider just received 2nd place honours at the 2023 Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers’ Sweet Cider Competition!
At Delhaven Orchards, apple cider is made from a special blend of at least 5 varieties of apples. You get nothing but the best! All of our apples used to make cider are hand picked from the trees. (Windfalls are never used to make our apple cider.)To ensure that we provide you with a high quality product, we wash and brush our quality apples before they are pressed. Our employees follow proper hygiene practices, as dictated by the health and safety protocols provided by our local health unit (Ministry of Health) and Agriculture Canada. We maintain a very clean, sanitary pressing operation.
Cider Sure is a safe alternative to pasteurization for apple cider. It is a fully automatic cider treatment system which uses the latest in germicidal ultraviolet technology and computer controls. It is approved by Health Canada to kill any harmful bacteria. Ultraviolet treatment has been used for bottled drinking water for the past 25 years. Unlike pasteurization, ultraviolet treatment does not heat the cider, so the taste of the cider remains unchanged. We are able to provide a safe product to our customers that tastes like the cider you have grown to love.

How do we make our cider taste so good?
Cider is made with three or four varieties of apples. The cider is chopped into a pomice (stems, seeds, skin and all). The pomice is pumped into cloths where it is pressed. Only the cloths filter the juice, with the preservative added to ensure freshness. Our cider is good for six weeks if stored in a refrigerator.
Our cider received first place honours at the Ontario Sweet Cider competition in 2020.
As you can see, we consistently rank above the best in the province with our apple cider. At the competition, apple cider is judged on flavour, aroma, clarity, acidity.
